Top Ten Food Spots In KCMO
And don't come for my neck, okay?!

Ok, so this is back by popular demand!! As many of you know, I'm in Kansas City for school, so for the past 3 years I have been trying the what's what on this side of Missouri and I have to say that as a person from St. Louis, KC has waaaaaaaaaaaaay more things that are unique to this city!
One disclaimer I do have is that while living in KC I have noticed that it's very easy to travel into Kansas and other cities that's located around KC, so while the blog post is titled 'KCMO' we all one big family over here okur!
Moving right along, these are in no sort of order, honestly.
1. One Scoop

This Belton, Missouri franchise has only one location. They are known for their flavorful ice creams. To me, this seems like a upperclass Baskin-Robbins, because they have fun and ordinary flavors BUT they are still inexpensive. I'm so upset that I have to drive to Belton, but honestly when you look at it, they're kinda iconic for that.
When I first visited I remember being surprised at the 'Honey Lavender' but Y'ALL. Excuse my French but that shit is sooooo good !
I usually get 3 flavors:
- Honey Lavender
- Cotton Candy (w/real pieces of cotton candy)
- Salted Carmel
If anyone from the One Scoop Franchise is reading this, I beg of you to please bring a location to Country Club Plaza. One time for the one time.
2. Ice Cream Bae

I don't even know what to say right now..
After following them for MONTHS on Instagram I decided to drag Jeff along to finally try them out. I ordered the 'Not your average S'more' while Jeff order the 'Cookies and Dream' both on cones, but you can order them sundae or milkshake style as well.
The total for both was around $17 including a tip so I will say they are pretty inexpensive. The only location so far is in Leawood, KS. BUT Lord behold, they are opening up a second location drum roll please.......
THE COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA. Y'all just don't know how excited I am, pair that with me and Jeff finding an apartment in the area as well, I'm already creating a separate bank account just for those late night ice cream visits.
3. Ruby Jean's Juicery
This one hits home y'all. Ruby Jean's is a black owned juice spot that has a location on Troost Ave, they have a few selections for breakfast and lunch including French toast, scrambles, keto salads and more and they also offer cold press juice cleanses as well. With names such as 'Soul Food Bowls and Grandma Wellness Sips' they give me a taste of family and home, that I so badly miss back in STL. I personally love their 'Green Dream Smoothie' that's filled with kale, spinach, pineapple, dates, green apple, pear and banana. Each smoothie/juice is priced at $7.50 and comes in a different 16 oz, so I like to order them maybe once or twice during the week. And when you pair the prices with the convient locations, the bright and colorful decor AND the jams they be playin ?! It makes the perfect study or hangout spot.

4. Snooze AM Eatery
Give me a second to get myself together.
Chileeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, this place has gotten me ALL the way together!
With locations in Overland Park, KS and Midtown KC this brunch place has over 6 different types of mimosa's, gluten free and vegan options.
First let me get you the run down on my order:
"OMG French Toast, a order of Bacon but Different and a 3 egg omelette with bacon, sausage and ham."
Y'all.
Ok but no, seriously the bacon but different is their version of candied bacon. Although in my opinion it could be a tad bit sweeter I find it ok if I'm already sitting down for brunch. The 3 egg omelette with has browns is AMAZING. I don't know what it is but lately I haven't been feeling omelettes from restaurants a whole bunch, but this right here?! Taste like I made it in my kitchen, and the has browns are never soggy, no matter how long my Uber Eats driver be taking all I do is sprinkle a tad bit of salt and pepper and it's on. Last but not least the OMG French Toast.
It's the most amazing shit I've ever tasted in my life. Fresh brioche stuffed with house-made mascarpone and topped with vanilla crème, caramel, fresh strawberries and toasted coconut.
I honestly don't even have to say much after that sentence. But if you're doubting it because of the toasted coconut, YOU'RE BADLY MISTAKEN. It tops the entree of perfectly. Although it is a bit pricey, if you have any self control unlike me it can be the perfect spot to go maybe once or twice throughout the week. Marvel at the masterpiece down below.

5. Minsky's
You may have heard me talk about Minsky's if you follow me on Instagram, but this Pizzeria is truly one of a kind. If your into cheesy, thick and greasy pizza like me, then you have met your match. Though they are not known for being affordable or inexpensive, especially with their delivery services- but on the bright side their creations are always hot and fresh. I love getting a medium size, with original crust and Italian sausage and pepperoni. I honestly prefer them over Imo's (please don't come for me) but like I said with a small pizza costing $25 with delivery this is a once-a-week thing.

I also forgot to mention that although they are famously known for their pizza's, they're actually a restaurant chain! Yes, you can go in, sit and enjoy the full bar and other non pizza related entrees such as salmon, chicken salad etc! They'll have "KC's Best Pizza" splattered everywhere and trust me, they ain't lying.
6. Another Broken Egg
Alright, back with another brunch spot! This franchise only has one location in Overland Park, but many around the U.S.
I first learned about this place when Jeff and I went to Atlanta. I know weird. But, I seen that this place looked delicious and the Atlanta location was always so busy during our trip that we never went.
So imagine my surprise when I was scrolling on Doordash one day, and this was a recommendation! I must say, now that I have had the chance to eat here in person and through a delivery app-the To Go service does them no justice. We went on a Sunday morning, so they were very busy especially with people going to watch the Chief's game but the wait was only about 45 minutes (if you would've seen the crowd you would know this wasn't so bad) before we were seated.

Although it will be hard to track down your server, you will see that the food is fairly priced on the menu. No seriously, compared to snooze you can have a 3 course breakfast and take home left overs! Jeff and I tried the Bourbon Street French Toast, a 3 egg omelette, chicken and waffles, shrimp 'n grits, biscuit beignets and a bailey's coffee cocktail and a mimosa. How much was all of this you may ask? about $80, so it wasn't bad.
7. Jack Stack
Honestly I shouldn't even have to write much about this place. You've probably heard about it already, and if you haven't- are you living under a rock? This Kansas City franchise is known for their BBQ!
Featuring over 11 hickory-smoked meats, Jack Stack has the most extensive barbecue menu in Kansas City. From beef burnt ends to lamb ribs, there's something for everyone and don't forget the sides, either – featuring the best hickory pit beans, cheesy corn bake, and cheesy potato bake Kansas City has to offer.
I don't know who Jack is, but let me personally say that man can season some BBQ. I've had the opportunity to try the restaurant in person and through Doordash and let me say they have not let me down yet! Even when I order French fries as my side, the fries are still hot when they get here!! McDonald's can't even do that.
My friends, peers, coworkers and colleagues that are Kansas City natives love to rave about Jack Stack. Literally the only bad thing I've heard about them was they're overpriced, which granted they could be a little expensive for some but honestly it's worth it. The customer service is always top notch, the meats are never dry and the food is delicious. Make sure to check this out, just so you can say you've had it at the least.

8. Sarpino's Pizza
The Sarpino’s pizza franchise opportunity can’t be beaten. By focusing on freshly made food, an extensive menu with a wide variety of options, including a large vegan menu and a strong delivery platform, Sarpino’s is an Italian eatery franchise that is both convenient and gourmet.
Honestly they're neck-n-neck with Minsky's in my book. And since I can get a small pizza and a order of their delicious hot wings + delivery for the same price as a small delivered pizza from Pinsky's, I have to say they are winning.
Honestly I haven't heard much about Sarpino's from the Kansas City natives that I'm around on the daily, but I found this gem while searching for something to eat at 1 a.m. on Uber Eats and I must say that it was the greatest moment ever. The pizza and wings are flavorful, but I must say that every time I have the wings delivered they are a little too soft for me. Honestly it's no big deal but if you like yours a little crunchy you might have to throw them in the air frier for about 5 minutes, or if you go in person just keep that in mind. Like I said, I've never had them in person but when I can Uber Eats some good ass pizza at 2 in the morning, it's always a great moment for me.

Look at how good these wings look y'all. Omg I just felt a tear roll down my face.
9. Brick House KC
I still remember the day I stumbled upon Brick House KC.
It was a rainy day, I was on my monthly cycle and I didn't feel like walking to the dinning hall so I went on Doordash of course. I was pretty much craving everything, a burger, bbq, wings- the whole nine. So imagine my surprise when I seen the "KC Burger" on their menu!!!
"pepper jack cheese, fried onions, shredded bbq pork, bbq sauce, pickle on a toasted brioche bun"
I added bacon and an order of their buffalo wings and y'all.......
Live music, dog friendly patio, great food, great service and an excellent selection of beer and liqour. Bring your friends and have a great time with Brick House. Did I mention they also serve Brunch with BOTTOMLESS mimosa's?! They also have specials for every day of the week (except for Friday and Saturday) including things like $7.00 burger & fries all day Monday.

The vibes are immaculent especially on CHEIF'S SUNDAY ! Also on the side of the building is this lovely Kansas City mural that you've probably seen on almost every instagram blogger's feed from KC, so make sure to snap a quick pic to document the moment.
10. Sol Catina
Oddly enough, Sol Catina is located right beside Brick House KC!

They also have an outside patio, though I do not know if it is dog friendly.
What I do know is that the BEST shrimp tacos I have ever had in my life has came from Sol Catina!!! The music be bumping and you can always find the Chief's game on Sunday's.
The list went by quick. BUT no worries, like I said I am not from Kansas City so this will be a regular thing since I am always trying new places. Like I said, don't come for my neck. But anywho, this list has had my stomach growling for about 2 hours now, so imma head out.
As always let me know what you think down below, and make sure to follow me on Instagram (@_.K.C).
Love ya, and until next time.
KC
